“The ORS Group is dedicated to excellence in empowerment of clients to achieve corporate and personal goals through innovative, cost effective and sustainable solutions”
This Mission Statement emphasises a concept that is a core value of ORS, that of empowerment. There are a number of core values and philosophies that have endured within The ORS Group which have helped to make it the organisation it is today.
We want you to succeed in your role and in The ORS Group and develop your career.
We want you to make a positive and significant contribution to the success of the organisation.
And, we want you to enjoy your work.
Core Values, Beliefs and Philosophies
The ORS Group has a rich history and whilst the styles of individual divisions, sites, managers and staff may vary to some degree, the core values and philosophies of The ORS Group are important to the culture of the organisation, and the continued success of the group.
Beliefs that ORS Hold
Believing that we can make a positive difference to people’s lives
The areas we work in are challenging and can provide their fair share of frustrations. We believe that through the work we do and the effort we put in, that we can have a positive impact on the lives of our clients, customers and colleagues.
We believe that in what we do, we can make a positive difference to people’s lives.
A fundamental belief that everyone is employable.
Many of the areas that The ORS Group operates involves assisting people into employment, whether it is after an injury or illness, or after periods of long term unemployment due to significant barriers to employment.
We have a fundamental belief that everyone is employable and all of our clients can achieve a meaningful work outcome.
If a client appears to be unemployable, then they are either unclear as to what they want, we are unclear as to what they want, or we are unclear as to what the real barriers to employment are. Without understanding the barriers then achieving an employment goal is difficult.
Believing that all of the people we deal with have the right to dignity and self respect
No matter who we are dealing with, whether it is an injured worker, a job seeker, employers, doctors, insurers, people administering the systems we work within, or our colleagues, we all have certain rights. One of these is the right to maintain their dignity and self respect. We should be dealing with all people we come into contact with in our work in a way that ensures we treat them with respect.
Sustainable Solutions
In all circumstances we want to ensure, where possible, the sustainability of solutions and/or employment outcomes.
Embracing an empowerment model
The ORS Group is very much founded on the philosophy of the empowerment model for both staff and clients. This model encourages all individuals to be active participants in decisions related to them. For clients, this model assists them to identify options and make responsible decisions and not have decisions made for them.
Rather than adopt a directive style, ORS advocates the empowerment of clients to make good informed decisions, understand what they want, have control over their situation where possible, become equipped to deal with their circumstances and generate their own solutions now and in the future.
We want our clients to learn how to solve their own problems.
As an employee of The ORS Group, we want you to clearly understand what outcomes you need to achieve in your job and to have the resources necessary to achieve quality outcomes. We also want you to feel empowered in the choices you make in how you perform your job.
Utilising a case management model
The case management model involves a thorough initial assessment of a clients needs, working out what people want, and not giving up on people. Whilst expertise by other ORS professionals may be accessed during the process, the case manager takes responsibility for their clients throughout the programme.
Believing in what we do
We have to believe in what we do.
- It is very difficult to convince our clients to join us on a journey that we don’t believe in ourselves. Why should they?
We also work in some very challenging areas, and one of the most important ways that we can insulate ourselves from these pressures is to have a fundamental belief that what we do makes a difference, and that ORS cares about the importance of positive outcomes for our clients.
