You may be referred for a worksite assessments to help ensure you are safe at work and do not injure yourself or aggravate an existing injury. You may also be referred for a worksite assessment to determine what workplace roles and tasks are suitable while recovering from injury or illness.
If you are referred for an assessment, one of our qualified staff will visit your workplace to meet you and your employer and assess the fit between you and your work environment, the tasks you need to perform, the tools and equipment you use, and the needs of your colleagues and employer. We will provide a report outlining our recommendations and work with you and your employer to implement these as appropriate.

Did you know that something as simple as rearranging your workstation, or taking regular ‘posture breaks’ could make you more productive as well as prevent headaches and neck pain?
The purpose of an ergonomic assessment is to ensure that your workspace and body are correctly positioned to reduce strain on your body and improve your ability to perform your tasks. You may be referred for an ergonomic assessment as part of your employer’s workplace health and safety program, or because you are having a particular issue while working at your desk that your employer wants to help you with.
If you are referred for an ergonomic assessment, one of our qualified staff will visit your workspace to assess the fit between you and your work environment in consideration of the tasks you need to perform and the tools and equipment you use. At the time of the assessment, we will work with you and your employer to make any recommended changes to your setup and work practices to optimise your work efficiencies and performance while minimising the load on your body. In a comprehensive report, we will outline any further recommendations that were identified during the assessment and provide required details to assist you implement any further changes.

Vocational Assessments & Counselling
If you are not able to return to your pre0inury employer or job role, you will need to find an alternative job role or industry that aligns with you capabilities, skills, experience and education.
ORS Psychologists are highly experienced in working within the Workers’ Compensation system and can help you identify suitable alternative job roles that align with medical recommendations and your capabilities. A tailored assessment with present a number of possibilities for consideration. In some instances a full assessment is not required and some vocational counselling sessions will be enough to help you identify suitable alternatives.

Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)
You may be referred for a Functional Capacity Evaluation (or Physical Capacity Assessment) to make sure that you can handle the physical demands of your workplace. this could be requested as part of the recruitment process, or after a workplace injury to see what your body is capable of when considering a return to work.
Functional Capacity Evaluations assess your physical ability and can be “job matched” so the evaluation aligns with specific job demands. If areas of concern are identified, your employer, GP and/or Agent/Insurer will be provided with professional advice regarding your physical capacity for work.
